  Paklenica National Park stretches on the littoral slope of South Velebit up to the zone of the highest mountain peaks. Velika and Mala Paklenica are the most beautiful part of the Velebit massif, which UNESCO has declared a part of the World Biosphere Reserve. Entrance to the National Park is less then 1km distant from camp Jaz.
Today, Paklenica National Park is one of the most attractive natural, scientific and tourist regions in the north-eastern Mediterranean. The rich and diverse array of flora and fauna (with many endemic species, like the Griffon vulture), the numerous karst phenomena (like Manita Cave), as well as the wide range of sporting activities (free-climbing, trekking, picnicking day trips to the Lugarnica forest hut, a tour of a mill and learning about how it works) attract all sorts of visitors.

 

  Starigrad Paklenica is a small harbour town situated on the Velebit Channel, close to Paklenica National Park, 45km south of Karlobag. With pebble beaches stretching for miles, it is suitable for a family summer holiday, while the tennis courts, sports fields and water-sports equipment guarantee a really active stay. Spelunkers and mountaineers can enjoy the Velebit and Paklenica massifs, while walkers and plant collectors will find many magnificent walks on the slopes of the National Park. There are also many cultural events, including artistic performances and other forms of entertainment. The food available centres around the local cuisine, including fish specialities, lamb, smoked ham and cheese.

 

 

 

St Peter’s Church is a medieval church situated on the Adriatic highway between Starigrad and Seline and it is located less then 500m from camp Jaz. The church was built in the pre-Romanesque, old Croatian style, probably at the turn of the 10th century. In the vicinity, there is a graveyard dating back to the mid-13th century. Over the past few years, archaeological research has been carried out at the site, which will certainly lead to new discoveries about the church. Aside from the Church of Saint Peter, several other medieval monuments are situated in the area and are well worth visiting.

 

 

Ethno-house Marasović is situated in the old hamlet of Marasovići on the very edge of Paklenica National Park. It has been renovated and remodelled from cut stone to reflect times gone by, and the interior of the house is furnished with restored pieces. Visitors of the house can discover old handicrafts and tools, an ancient way of life, and learn how to survive in a harsh environment lacking any form of modern technology.

 

 
Zadar is an ancient city, built in the center of the Croatian Adriatic, full of historical and cultural monuments. Distance between camp Jaz and Zadar is aproximately 50km. Town itself is more than three thousand years old. The particularity of the city is irresistible for those who respect and admire historical monuments and cultural heritage, artists, tourists and its citizens. Zadar is a city monument, surrounded by historical ramparts, a treasury of the archaeological and monumental riches of ancient and medieval times, Renaissance and many contemporary architectural achievements such as the first sea organs in the world.

 

 

 

Guests that are eager of fun and adrenaline can try bungee jumping at old Maslenica bridge. Bridge is reached for aproximately 20 minutes driving from camp Jaz. Bungee jump from Maslenica bridge represents the highest bungee jumping in Croatia. Jump point is at 56m height. Free fall is about 30m to 35m and in the lowest point of jump jumper is aproximately 4m from sea surface.
